Whoopi Goldberg confirms that a third installment of

Sister Act

is in preparation.

The first film, released in 1992, was so successful that a sequel was shot the following year.

However since then, apart from the musical launched in the 2000s, the nuns and their rock choir have remained silent.

“For years, people kept telling me that nobody wanted to see the sequel,” Whoopi Goldberg told People's

Late Late Show with James Corden

.

Proof that 2020 does not have only flaws, the Disney studios have, it seems, heard the call of the famous actress.

“Very recently, this is no longer the case.

The public seems to want to see it.

So we are working conscientiously to see how to reunite the gang and bring them back, ”added the interpreter of Dolorès Van Cartier / Sister Marie-Clarence.

Luxury casting

The 1992 film gathered a select cast.

Besides Whoopi Goldberg, there was the British actress beloved by fans of

Downton Abbey

Maggie Smith, or Harvey Keitel.

In the 1993 sequel, a very young Lauryn Hill burst on the screen alongside Jennifer Love Hewitt.

It remains to be seen who, among these actors, will find the convent, and which young artists will join them to form a new choir.
