[Explanation] Affected by the new crown pneumonia epidemic, Hong Kong's unemployment rate is high, and the "women" group is the hardest hit area in the unemployment field.

Huang Fengqun, executive committee member of the Outlying Islands Women’s Federation, pointed out that many women working at the airport in Tung Chung were unemployed because of the epidemic. After a visit, they found that as many as 60%.

　　For a period of time (during unemployment), some women will be depressed. We discovered that they have these physical and mental problems, so we held a meeting to discuss what we can do for them. At that time (faced) with a shortage of masks and insufficient supply of masks, we could not buy Masks, so we thought it would be better to cut out masks.

　　[Explanation] After investigation, it is found that unemployed women are also willing to try new jobs.

However, new problems plagued Huang Fengqun again. This group of women come from all walks of life. Although they are willing to accept new jobs, many of them are not familiar with tailoring work.

　　We set up tailoring classes. First we taught how to cut some household masks. Later we helped community charities to cut some free masks. After two months of training, the Swire Group’s (Women's Talent Development Program) was integrated.

Previously, there was no salary in the training stage, but Swire’s plan was to pay salaries.

　　[Explanation] Huang Fengqun said that women working here can earn 25 Hong Kong dollars for every mask they complete. This is not only to help with family expenses, but also their second "home".

　　During this (planned) 3 months, they not only have income, but are also happy.

The group of them is like a small group. Now that they get their "salary", so to speak, they will buy some snacks and bring them back (everyone) to share.

　　[Explanation] Since the implementation of the plan, 80 women have assembled nearly 30,000 “reusable masks + mask covers”.

Mask sets are manufactured for charity sales and donated to people in need.
