Egypt .. The execution of a pharmacist assistant abandoned by 31 lawyers

The Court of Cassation in Egypt upheld the execution of a pharmacist assistant accused of killing his wife's brother, due to inheritance disputes.

The Public Prosecution charged "Ahmed Z", a pharmacist assistant who holds Spanish nationality, after he got rid of his wife's brother, Adel El Sawaf, a furniture dealer, due to a dispute over his wife's inheritance from her father.

The accused "Ahmed S.", 47 years old, had hired a defense team of 31 lawyers, but they all decided to withdraw from the case, after reviewing the prosecution's investigations, and the perpetrator's wife and sister of the victim blew up a surprise, as she admitted that the niqab used in the crime is her personal property.


The defendant's wife explained that material disputes arose between the perpetrator and the victim because of her inheritance, pointing out that the problems extended for about 4 years despite the continuous attempts at reconciliation.


The suspect’s brother, Ashraf S., a teacher, admitted that the perpetrator asked him to drive him to a warehouse in the Military Street area, where the security forces seized the weapon used in the crime after that, and added that his brother was carrying a black bag while they were traveling together in the car before committing the crime The suitcase seized at the crime scene, and it contained masks, narcotic substance and a number of iron chains.


The murderer has Spanish nationality, and the embassy in Cairo pledged, at an earlier time, to provide him with a lawyer at its expense, and the session was held in the presence of a representative from the Spanish embassy.
