Emmanuel Macron will be the guest this Wednesday on the 8pm newspapers of TF1 and France 2. The president will be live from Saint-Martin-Vésubie, one of the villages in the Alpes-Maritimes stricken by bad weather, announced the two channels.

The head of state will answer questions from Marie Chantrait of TF1 and Jeff Wittenberg for France 2, the channels said in a joint statement.

The interview will also be broadcast on LCI and franceinfo.

Four dead in France, considerable damage

According to his entourage, the president will speak on the situation in the Alpes-Maritimes.

He notably promised on the spot support from the State "in the long term" and "to the extent of the disaster", five days after the exceptional storm which devastated the Nice hinterland.

Three valleys north of Nice were hit on Friday by torrential rains and brutal floods which left at least four dead, eight people missing and thirteen others "supposedly missing".

Beyond the human losses, the destruction is considerable: houses swallowed up or gutted by the dozen, roads cut and undoubtedly impractical for long weeks, drinking water networks destroyed.

Reconstruction will take months of effort.

“Fully mobilized in the emergency, the State will remain so tomorrow, in the reconstruction phase.

I make the commitment, ”said Emmanuel Macron a few hours before going to meet the inhabitants.
