The toll was further increased on Wednesday in the Alpes-Maritimes.
The exceptional floods that hit three valleys in the department killed five people, announced from Breil-sur-Roya the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron, visiting to meet the victims.
Seven other people are missing.
The authorities have so far evoked four dead, eight missing and thirteen "supposedly missing" in these bad weather, which also made two deaths in Italy, in the Valle d'Aosta and Piedmont.
"The human toll is heavy and I want, above all, to have a thought for the families of the victims", declared the Head of State.
Monday, a victim was discovered in the town of Colomars, left bank of the Var, near La Manda.
A second was in Lantosque.
