The management of the daily Le Monde announced on Wednesday that journalist Caroline Monnot, former head of the political service, will head the editorial staff from January 1, 2021.

Joined the World in 1989, Caroline Monnot was a journalist in the economy, then in politics.

Head of the political service from 2016, she was, since the spring of 2018, deputy editor-in-chief, recalled the direction of the newspaper, in a press release.

Luc Bronner wants to return to writing

"His experience at the head of the political service in 2017 will obviously be crucial for us to be up to one of the major meetings of the years to come, the presidential election of 2022", notably underlined the director of Le Monde , Jérôme Fenoglio, saluting "his very fine knowledge of extremist speeches".

Caroline Monnot will take over from Luc Bronner, who had headed the daily's editorial staff since 2015, and who wanted to “return to writing, reporting and investigating”.

Next January, he will become "major reporter, in charge of editorial projects within the editorial staff of Le Monde," said the newspaper's press release.
