China News Service, Tianjin, October 5 (Reporter Zhang Daozheng) The dance play "Ambush on Ten Sides" directed by the famous dancer Yang Liping was staged in the Tianjin Auditorium on the evening of the 5th. The whole play is based on Chinese dance, integrating performance art and installation art. The comprehensive artistic language such as, folk music and traditional drama has created a "dance theater", showing Yang Liping's new attempt in stage art creation.

The story of the conflict between Chu and Han is a well-known story that has been passed down for thousands of years. The art version that audiences are more familiar with is the Peking opera drama "Farewell My Concubine" (also known as "Ambush on Ten Sides"). This time, Yang Liping's dance drama also borrowed from Peking Opera. Element, invited Qiu Jirong, the fourth-generation successor of Peking Opera Qiu School to serve as executive director and Peking Opera director, and successfully grafted Peking Opera and dance.

The play is directed by Yang Liping as the chief editor and art director. Ye Jintian, a famous international visual artist and Oscar winner, is specially invited as art and costume design. The famous theatre director Tian Qinxin is the theatre consultant, and the American artist Liu Beili is the scissor installation art and creative consultant.

Through the form of the dance theater "Ambush on Ten Sides", a group of characters from more than two thousand years ago are extracted from the story, portraying the inner conflicts and entanglements of the characters in a specific time and space.

Yang Liping believes that the integration of various Chinese cultural elements helps to enhance the unique oriental beauty of the play, and many unique elements make this work break through tradition while expressing tradition.

As soon as the audience walked into the theater, they were amazed at the tens of thousands of scissors hanging above the stage, the blades of which shone coldly.

In addition to following the Chinese classical culture as always, thinking about human nature and war has become Yang Liping's new creative attempt.

The only female character in the play, Yu Ji, is reversed by the male dancer Hu Shen. In addition to her charming and feminine figure, she also needs to inject masculine power to reflect her loyalty; a classic fragment of Yu Ji’s self-moment, a red silk from Xiang Yu’s mouth The "flow" came out, wrapped around Yu Ji's neck, without a sword, a pair of dancers expressed their affection with body language.

Similar to the small colorful flags in the dance drama "Peacock" that represent the continuous rotation of time, Yang Liping also set up such a special role for "Ambush on Ten Sides".

The "paper cutter" who always cuts paper in the corner of the stage records everything that happens on the stage, metaphorically, no matter the current affairs, no matter love, hatred, hatred, no matter how old the world is, time will still be me.

She cut out history, but was eventually buried in the paper scraps she cut out.

Although the new crown pneumonia epidemic has caused severe damage to the cultural and tourism industry, the Tianjin performance market has been empty for more than half a year, but at the beginning of the 30% opening of theater seats, the organizer introduced "Ambush on Ten Sides" into Tianjin as soon as possible.

As the first large-scale performance run by a private enterprise after Tianjin resumed theater performances, the performance received a positive response from the audience as soon as the tickets were opened. The original two performances were sold out in less than two weeks.

The audience was full of enthusiasm. After the performance, Yang Liping stepped onto the stage to thank the audience. The audience stood up and applauded and cheered for nearly ten minutes.
