  • On October 17 at 7:30 p.m., train traffic will be interrupted for 57 hours in Toulouse.

  • An operation which should allow SNCF to put its centralized control of the rail network into service and to integrate aging switch stations.

  • During this interruption, and the gradual resumption which will take place until Friday, October 23, replacement buses will be set up to serve the stations or relay metro stations.

If you have to go on holiday to Paris on Sunday, October 18 from Toulouse, the train option may be a bit complicated.

From Saturday 17 October at 7:30 p.m. and until Tuesday morning 4:30 a.m., no TER or TGV will run in the Pink City.

And the return to normal will be gradual, since between Tuesday and Wednesday morning, only three out of four trains will run, and from Wednesday to Friday the increase in load will be gradual.

To continue to make travel its some 12,000 daily customers who pass through the Matabiau station during this school holiday period, the SNCF has provided replacement coaches, serving other relay stations.

TGV Sud-Est will stop in Montpellier and those coming from Paris to Agen, the rest of the journey will be by bus.

Streamline traffic

During the 57-hour rail blackout in the Pink City, 150 railway workers will lead a race against time to put into service the centralized control of the Toulouse railway star and integrate its first seven signal stations.

“It's a sort of control tower that will eventually manage all the traffic, ie 480 trains and 700 routes at Toulouse station.

These seven switch stations date from the 1970s, with different technologies.

When it is centralized, it will make it possible to have better passenger information, better fluidity and regularity and all the information in the same place ”, explains Emmanuèle Saura, regional director of SNCF Réseau who has invested 150 million euros in this operation. modernization.

The company is taking advantage of this “technological leap” to develop remote monitoring of its tracks.

During these 57 hours, agents will thus connect new electronic sensors to the network, which will make it possible, for example, to detect more quickly when there is a breach of barrier on a level crossing and to intervene as soon as possible. .

The first seven integrated switching stations during the weekend of October 17 concern the lines serving Comminges and Lauragais.

By 2035, more than thirty aging signaling stations will thus be linked to this centralized control, including fifteen from 2024.
