  • In the metropolis of Lyon, this is the second week in a row that the indicators related to Covid-19 are stable or declining.

  • But activity in some CHU departments remains strong due to pathologies other than the coronavirus which require hospitalizations.

  • To maintain these signs of improvement, the prefect decided to renew the obligation to wear the mask in the street until October 21 inclusive.

The epidemic rebound observed at the end of August in the metropolis of Lyon stabilizes, for the time being the threat of a second wave announced for weeks by some specialists.

According to the weekly report published this Tuesday by the Hospices Civils de Lyon, the indicators of the coronavirus have remained stable in the city for almost three weeks, or even in decline.

This Tuesday, 205 people are hospitalized for Covid-19 in one of the establishments managed by the HCL, 24 more than a week ago.

Among them, 42 are treated in intensive care, two more patients than on September 29.

This stabilization is also observed in Samu, where calls related to Covid-19 have further decreased compared to mid-September (12% of calls against 17.2% a fortnight ago).

In adult emergencies, the number of passages linked to the coronavirus is also decreasing, affecting less than 15% of patients received.

No deprogramming of non-urgent activities

In services, these signs of stability do not prevent teams from running at full speed in certain services.

"The activity is currently strong, due in particular to a strong activity, not Covid, concomitant, indicates this Tuesday the CHU.

However, the HCL have not yet had to initiate a deprogramming plan ”.

A situation that the CHU, which ceased its non-urgent activities last March, wishes to see continue.

"The management of HCLs wishes to avoid resorting to massive deprogramming of activity to maintain as long as possible the reception and care of non-Covid patients", add the hospices.

To avoid the suffocation of services and teams, they are based in particular on the gradual increase in resuscitation beds (9 more beds for the moment for a total of 148) and the mobilization of hospitals in the area.

Brignais and Craponne switch to compulsory masks

To limit the spread of the virus and prevent “saturation” of hospitals, the prefect of the Rhône announced on Tuesday the renewal and expansion of the wearing of the mask until October 21 inclusive.

In all the municipalities where it must be worn in the street from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. or permanently (Lyon and Villeurbanne), nothing changes for the population.

On the other hand, the inhabitants of Brignais and Craponne will in turn have to wear a mask from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. starting this Wednesday, state services announce.

"It is more than ever necessary to limit risky behavior in order to slow the spread of the epidemic, preserve the good living together and collectively avoid a re-containment", insists the prefect Pascal Mailhos.

In the Rhône, the incidence rate of the disease, from 223 / 100,000 inhabitants on September 25, fell to 202 per 100,000 inhabitants on Friday.
