Seven weeks after Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) lost to Bayern Munich in the Champions League final, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting left PSG for the European football champion.

The Cameroonian, at the end of his contract with the French club, has just signed up with the German team until June 20, 2021.

A short contract that may surprise because the 31-year-old striker has not always shone in the French Championship, even if he was unanimous within the Parisian club since his arrival in August 2018. “

Eric has accumulated experience international at Paris SG, he knows the Bundesliga and he is coming to the end of his contract

, explained the sports director of Bayern Munich, Hasan Salihamidzic.

His arrival will give our squad, especially in attack, a depth that we are going to need

 ”.

In Bavaria, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is supposed to act as an understudy for superstar Robert Lewandowski.

The Indomitable Lion shouldn't have an adjustment problem since he was born and raised in Germany.

He has already attended four clubs in the German Championship: Hamburg, Nuremberg, Mainz and Schalke 04.

A void to fill

The Munich were under pressure to recruit before the end of the transfer window on October 5, 2020. Because the coach Hansi Flick had requested several reinforcements to compensate for the departures in particular of the Brazilian Coutinho (return to FC Barcelona) and Ivan Perisic (return to the 'Inter Milan) in attack, and Spaniard Thiago Alcantara (left for Liverpool) in midfield.

Before Choupo-Moting, the winner of the Champions League had recruited Leroy Sané, the German international winger of Senegalese origin, who arrived from Manchester City for 45 million euros, and the Spanish international midfielder Marc Roca (Espanyol Barcelona) for 9 million.
