Munira, 32, a Somali, suffers from multiple sclerosis for three years. She needs medicines for a year at a cost of 69,468 dirhams, and appeals to someone to help her find the amount.

Munira tells her story to Emirates Today, saying: “I fell ill three years ago, as I felt several symptoms, including imbalance while walking, which made me unable to walk without relying on anything.”

She added, "I went to Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, and after the tests were done, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, I was hypnotized, and I was given cortisone medication intravenously for three days, and I had blood tests and MRI rays of the brain and spinal cord and cerebrospinal fluid withdrawal."

And she continued: "A drug was prescribed twice a day, and I must continue to take it for life, as it makes my condition stable without any developments."

She explained that "the monthly cost of the medicine is 5789 dirhams, which means 69 thousand and 468 dirhams per year, and my financial means do not allow me to administer it."

She indicated that two of her sisters had contracted the same disease, and the cost of their treatment was 360,000 dirhams, but they had a "Aounak" card that covers the cost of treatment.

She added, "I spent several months without medication, which causes symptoms to appear again, and I feel weak in my left leg."

"My family consists of nine members, and my father works with a salary of 5000 dirhams, and I work as a nurse with a salary of 10 thousand dirhams, and my older brother works with a salary of 9,000 dirhams. He goes for life supplies and housing rent, and I stand unable to find the amount of my treatment, so I hope that I will be helped before it doubles. My symptoms ».
