According to trade unionists, the Thello company is planning a “final shutdown” of its cross-border line.
The subsidiary of the Italian public railway company Trenitalia wants to close its Eurocity Marseille-Nice-Milan during the first half of 2021, CFDT Cheminots said Thursday.

, the management of the company had not yet responded this Friday morning.
"The company is preparing to cease the so-called day train activity created in 2014, and made up of three daily round trips," confirmed Gabriel Rabellino, CFDT union representative at Thello.
Since deconfinement, the pace has been reduced: the train no longer leaves Marseille and there are only two Nice-Milan round trips per day.
The threat of a social plan
This decision would lead to the elimination of 38 positions on the Nice site (flight attendants, train drivers, shunting agents, management), according to the CFDT.
The CFDT also recalls that Thello had thus obtained “a historic agreement with the PACA region and the SNCF” to take charge, against five additional euros on their subscription, “travelers who work in Monaco and Ventimiglia”.
And this agreement, which makes it possible to relieve the TER network saturated at peak hours, will “go out” in fact.
"It is a decision which would be surprising if it is confirmed because Thello has reserved additional train paths for SNCF Réseau for future years," commented Senator LR Philippe Tabarot, transport delegate for the South Paca region.
