Twelve other departments have been placed on orange rain-flood or thunderstorm alert: these are Ain, Côte-d'Or, Côtes-d'Armor, Isère, Rhône, Saône -et-Loire, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Hautes-Alpes, Ardèche, Drôme, Var and Vaucluse.

Finistère has been placed on orange vigilance for floods and wind.

In Morbihan, 80,000 people without electricity

In Morbihan, "80,000 people are currently without electricity (...) on the coastal strip and in the east of the department", announced the prefecture in a press release at 5 am.

"The ENEDIS Bretagne teams are mobilized in the field to restore power as soon as possible", she added.

Until then in red vigilance, Morbihan had passed through the night in orange vigilance, then in yellow at 6 am, Météo France announced.

In the early hours of Friday, the Morbihan firefighters had already carried out “more than 80 interventions”, according to the prefecture, in particular for falling trees or objects, flying roofs, as in a college in Vannes, or electrical cables fallen to the ground.

In Loire-Atlantique, firefighters have carried out 25 interventions since the start of the storm, especially for trees fallen on the public highway.

Wind up to 186 km / h

The wind, accompanied by significant precipitation, hit hard over the entire region but even more over Morbihan as evidenced by the gust records overnight from Thursday to Friday: 186 km / h at midnight in Belle-Ile-en- Wed, then 162 a little later, 157 at the island of Groix, 135 at Sarzeau, on the mainland.

Proof that the entire region is affected by this storm, Météo France also noted a gust of 129 km / h in Cholet (Maine-et-Loire), 122 in Noirmoutier (Vendée) 119 on the island of Yeu (Vendée) and 116 in Rennes.

In its 3 am bulletin, Météo France indicated that “the low pressure winding crossed Morbihan and the Côtes d'Armor and is located on the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel”.

The gusts still expected on the departments in orange "are 100 to 120 km / h in the land for a little more on the coasts and exposed capes".

In anticipation of this first storm of autumn, the prefecture of Morbihan had notably announced at the end of the day the "closure of schools, higher education and reception of minors throughout the department" until Saturday, as well as the ban on coastal paths between Thursday evening and Saturday morning.

Car and rail traffic disrupted

Maritime links with Belle-Ile, the largest island in Morbihan, are suspended on Friday, announced the Océane company which provides these crossings, specifying that these disturbances could continue on Saturday morning.

For its part, the SNCF announced that train traffic would be interrupted between Quimper and Rennes until late morning on Friday.

Significant disruptions are also expected in the Pays de la Loire and New Aquitaine, said the railway company.

Due to the strong gusts of wind announced, several bridges had been closed to traffic, or subject to traffic restrictions, such as the Saint-Nazaire bridge or the Cheviré bridge in Nantes which belongs to the Nantes ring road.

In addition, the city of Nantes announced the closure on Friday and until further notice, of all parks and gardens in the city.

In the Alpes-Maritimes, placed on a red “rain-flood” alert, all schools, from nurseries to universities, will be closed on Friday, the prefect announced in a press release.
