A 44-year-old company officer who has been charged with extortion for driving on the Joban Expressway in Ibaraki Prefecture and the highways in Aichi and Shizuoka Prefectures will be sentenced by the Mito District Court on the 2nd.

Fumio Miyazaki, a 44-year-old company officer, drove on the Joban Expressway in Moriya City, Ibaraki Prefecture in August last year, forcibly stopped a male employee's car on the main line and hit him injured. In addition, he was accused of being forced and injured in the previous month for driving on the highways in Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture and Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture.



In previous trials, the defendant acknowledged all the charges and said, "It was an extremely dangerous act that could lead to a serious accident. I'm really sorry."



The prosecutor's office sentenced him to three years and eight months in prison, saying, "These cases were all caused on the highway, and if you make a mistake, the following vehicle could collide and the victim could die.



In response, the defendant's lawyer demanded a suspended sentence, saying, "The defendant has been diagnosed with a kind of personality disorder and it is more appropriate to go to the hospital."
