Capone.

Scarface "(Capone)

The most famous American gangster, Al Capone, for many years led the Chicago mafia, ran a gambling business, and was engaged in the clandestine trade in alcohol.

Capone mercilessly destroyed his competitors.

His activities peaked in the 1920s and early 1930s, and in 1931 the gangster was sentenced to prison for tax evasion.

In 1939, Capone was released from prison for health reasons: progressive syphilis had a serious impact on his mental state.

The offender settled in Florida, where he lived until his death in 1947.

In the film Capone.

Scarface ”tells about the last year of a gangster's life.

Sick 47-year-old Al Capone is living out his last months in his mansion.

However, the FBI is still interested in him.

Bureau agents hope to find a huge amount of money hidden by a gangster in a place known to him.

The main role in the film was played by the star of "The Dark Knight", "Mad Max" and "Peaky Blinders" Tom Hardy.

The film was directed and written by Josh Trunk, the creator of Fantastic Four, which failed miserably in 2015.

In an interview with Variety, the director said that in the new film he tried to show the history of the cult figure from a fundamentally new side.

“I wondered to myself: what was it like for Al Capone to end his life being so different from the Al Capone he was,” the director explained.

According to Trunk, he considers “Capone.

Scarface "his best work.

"Honest Candidate" (Irresistible)

After a six-year hiatus from directing, John Stewart, best known as the host of the American satirical television show The Daily Show, is releasing his second film.

"Honest Candidate" is a political drama that takes place shortly after the 2016 presidential election.

In the story, a Democratic political consultant (Steve Carell) travels to a small town in Wisconsin to help a local retired Marine Colonel (Chris Cooper) run for mayor.

Republicans are sending their employee (Rose Byrne) there, who needs to get the incumbent mayor re-elected.

The film premiered in June on a number of US video services.

Honest Candidate has received overwhelmingly negative reviews from critics, with a 40% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Many argue that there are funny scenes in the tape, but in general its plot is rather superficial and formulaic.

Of the pluses, reviewers note the relevance and successful cast.

The viewers who had already watched the film turned out to be more loyal and awarded it 66% "freshness".

"Baby with character" (The Doorman)

In the already familiar role of a strong woman, the star of the series "Batwoman" and the action-adventure film "Three Xs: World Domination" Ruby Rose returns to the screens.

This time she played a retired Marine officer.

After returning home from a difficult service, the heroine gets a job as a doorman in an old New York house.

She hopes to live a calm and measured life, but she will not be able to rest: she will have to catch criminals who hunt for works of art hidden in the walls of the building.

According to the producer of the tape, Jason Moring, "Baby with character" is not only a high-quality thriller, but also a rich action.

The role of the antagonist went to Jean Reno.

In the director's chair is the Japanese Ryuhei Kitamura, who has won a number of awards at international film festivals.

To Western audiences, he may be known for the horror films No One Lived with Luke Evans and Midnight Express with Bradley Cooper and Vinnie Jones.

"Blues"

The premiere of Aleksey Kamynin's comedy "Blues" took place in September at the "Kinotavr" festival.

The main characters of the film - DJ Vitalik, novice director Lyosha and future musician Denya - are going through the most difficult and at the same time funny day in their lives.

The plot of the film is based on real events that happened to Kamynin and his friends - cameraman Nikita Kornev and the scriptwriters of the film Vitaly Anokhin and Denis Lipatov.

However, it is impossible to completely identify the filmmakers with the main characters: as Kamynin noted in an interview with ProfiCinema, the story shown in the tape is exaggerated and "multiplied by self-irony."

The performers of the main roles - Danila Yakushev, Mikhail Troinik and Kirill Kovbas - also bear little resemblance to their prototypes.

“I was not looking for actors on the basis of external coincidence.

I was looking for those who, pulling the blanket of the script over themselves, created something more, which is not in the script and which I did not even imagine.

So now it is already difficult to determine, for example, what is left of me in Lesha's character.

And even after Kirill Kovbas played me so mockingly, ”the director explained.

According to Kamynin, the story is complemented by a multifaceted humor designed for a wide variety of viewers, as well as many references to Soviet classics.

"Russian raid"

Denis Kryuchkov's fighter "Russian Raid" is primarily interesting in terms of fights.

The main role in the film was played by a professional stuntman Ivan Kotik, who has been engaged in martial arts for at least 30 years.

He worked on the filming of Jackie Chan's "Armor of God - 3: Mission Zodiac", and also took part in the creation of the "Secret of the Dragon's Seal" project.

Another key role went to the master of sports in mixed martial arts Vladimir Mineev.

Many other actors involved in the film also have practical experience in martial arts.

The idea for the film belongs to Kryuchkov himself, and the script was written by an American author specializing in action films, Robert Orr.

At the same time, according to the director, the film was adapted to Russian realities.

According to the plot, a group of raiders is preparing to seize the plant.

However, a carefully planned operation turns out to be a trap: at the head of the gang is a man who is not interested in either the plant or the money.

The only thing he needs is to restore justice.

Dreamcatcher

The action of "Dreamcatcher", like many other horror films, takes place in a place far from civilization.

In the story, the therapist Gail, her lover Luke and his son Josh arrive at a country house.

The boy suffers from nightmares related to his deceased mother.

Soon, Luke has to return to the city, and Gail and Josh remain together in the village.

During the walk, they meet a mysterious neighbor who sells handmade items endowed with mystical power.

Josh later steals a dream catcher from her store.

However, in reality, it turns out to be a much more dangerous artifact.

Horror Buzz writer Norman Gidney describes the film as "a mystical screamer of sufficient quality to be worth the time spent watching it."

According to the critic, the plot of the tape is nothing new, but interesting in its own way.

It is noted that the filmmakers avoided clichés that are standard for such projects, which allows to keep the intrigue until the very end.

The film's director Kerry Harris is a full-length debutant.

Rada Mitchell (Phone Booth), Henry Thomas (Haunting Hill House) and Lin Shay (Astral) starred in Dreamcatcher.
