Storm Alex is expected to hit hard in the Alpes-Maritimes.

First consequence of this weather alert, schools will not welcome students on Friday.

“Due to the severe bad weather announced [for this day], all schools will be closed,” the prefecture announced in a statement.

The department should be placed in orange vigilance "storms", "rain-flood" and "waves-submersion", from this Thursday evening and for a period of at least 24 hours.

Rainfall amounts of 150 mm in the middle country and 100 mm on the coast could be recorded locally.

Vigilance is essential.
