A recent study warns of drinking coffee before breakfast

A recent study stressed the necessity of drinking morning coffee after eating breakfast, not before.

Researchers from the "University of Bath" said that drinking coffee before breakfast may impair control of blood sugar levels, according to the British newspaper "Mirror".

The researchers asked 29 healthy men and women to undergo three different experiments in random order. In one of the experiments, the participants slept normally at night and were asked to drink a sugary drink upon waking.

In a second experiment, the participants experienced sleep disturbances and consumed the same sugary drink upon waking.

In the third experiment, participants slept sporadically at night, but they consumed strong black coffee 30 minutes before consuming the sugary drink.

By examining blood samples, it was revealed that one night of disrupted sleep did not worsen the participants' responses to blood glucose levels at breakfast, compared to a normal night's sleep.

On the same level, test results showed that consuming strong black coffee before breakfast significantly increased blood glucose response to breakfast by about 50%.
