[Poverty alleviation story] Guangxi guys take the initiative to get rich through work
[Explanation] Luocheng Mulao Autonomous County, Hechi City, Guangxi is one of the contiguous counties with the most concentrated karst landforms in Guangxi. The rocky desertification is serious, and the rocky mountains are barren and lack water and soil.
However, veteran Wei Fengmao, after more than ten years of reclamation, planted wool grapes, he just planted a "rich fruit" in this stone mountain.
[Explanation] Wei Fengmao’s vineyard is located on two rocky mountains in Saba Town, Luocheng Mulao Autonomous County. The vineyards are full of big rocks and the soil is sparse. Grape vines are planted between these rock cracks.
It coincides with the ripening season of the wool grapes. When the reporter walked into Wei Fengmao's vineyard recently, he was picking grapes with the workers.
[Commentary] Wei Fengmao introduced that after he retired from the army, he went out to work. In 2002, he returned to his hometown and started to open up wasteland on this barren rocky mountain. They all voted in.
But at the initial stage, the wool grapes that Wei Fengmao planted did not produce benefits and owed a lot of debts.

At first it was not at home (objection). Everyone in the village said that I was a person who took money to throw it away. Isn’t it okay to build a house by myself? They all said that, I told my dad, and my parents said, as long as If you do, there will always be rewards. My mom and my dad just said something like this, and then I did it desperately, no matter what.
[Explanation] In 2015, Wei Fengmao was identified as a poor household with a registered card.
With support from the local government for discount loans, technical guidance on bisexual grapes, industry awards, market development, and donations of cement pillars and fertilizers, Wei Fengmao’s income from bisexual grapes planted in 2016 reached 160,000 yuan, eliminating poor households in one fell swoop The hat also led more than 20 villagers to plant wool grapes, and at the same time provided the surrounding villagers with job opportunities to pick wool grapes.

[Explanation] In recent years, Luocheng County has included the wool grape industry as one of the main poverty alleviation industries, especially in the impoverished Shishan areas of the central and western regions. Growing wool grapes has become an important way to increase income. There are more than 3,800 poor families in the county. Households have participated in the cultivation of wool grapes. Since 2012, more than 1,200 poor households have alleviated poverty due to planting wool grapes.
