The boss of the African Football Confederation (CAF) since 2017, Ahmad, presented his report to the presidents of CAF affiliated federations.

Depending on their reactions, the Malagasy will decide whether or not to seek his own succession on March 12, 2021 in Rabat.

Officially, the president of the African Football Confederation (CAF) does not yet know if he will be a candidate for his own succession on March 12, 2021 in Rabat.

Ahmad has always said that he would not serve more than three terms on the Executive Committee of CAF.

The Malagasy, who has been a member (2013-2017) then boss (2017-2021), could well and truly come back in five months.

Ahmad in any case drew up his report to the presidents of federations affiliated to CAF as well as to the International Football Federation (FIFA).

In a four-page document entitled “The Transformation of African Football”, he details the achievements of the past four years.

This file does not bear the logo of CAF, because it is at the initiative of the president's team and was produced with his funds, we say in his entourage.

This report is accompanied by a support form to be completed and signed.

For the former boss of the Malagasy Football Federation, the goal is simple: to know if he will have enough support to get back on track.

He knows too well the risks of a turnaround.

When he appeared against his predecessor Issa Hayatou in 2017, few were indeed those who openly supported him against the Cameroonian.

And, on arrival, he had won 34 votes to 20.

Who else

?

For the time being, no one has openly declared themselves for the election of March 12, 2021. The deadline for submitting applications has however been set for November 12, 2020.

Amaju Pinnick, former first vice-president of CAF, hinted that he could get started.

The Nigerian, who has not been a member of the Executive Committee since July 2019, is still thinking.

As a reminder, “

a candidacy for the presidency of CAF must be proposed by at least one national association member of CAF.

[This] candidacy for the Presidency of CAF is only admissible if it is supported, in writing, by at least three national associations which are members of CAF, including the national association which is a member of the candidate concerned

 ”.

In addition, “

a candidate for the Presidency of CAF must have played an active role in football (as a Player or Official of FIFA, CAF or a national association member of CAF or one of its affiliated members) for at least two of the last five years preceding the submission of his candidacy

 ”.
