The successful series broadcast on Canal + "Black Baron", which takes the viewer behind the scenes of the political world, will not have a fourth season, reveals "Télérama" Wednesday.

"It's my decision, and I assume it", explains to the magazine Éric Benzekri, his co-creator.

Dark Baron

will not return.

The

Télérama

magazine

revealed on Wednesday that the political series launched on Canal + in 2016 will not have a fourth season.

"I discussed it a lot with Canal + and the producer, Thomas Bourguignon, but it's my decision, and I assume it", explains Eric Benzekri, his co-creator, to the weekly.

In 24 episodes, the series recounted the political career of the deputy mayor of Dunkirk, Philippe Rickwaert, played by Kad Merad, grappling with betrayals, coalitions and the rise of populist figures.

In front of him, a future president with overflowing ambition with whom he maintains, during the three seasons, a very tumultuous relationship.

A sequel in a few years?

This decision to stop the series will undoubtedly disappoint the many fans of

Black Baron

, who were awaiting the arrival of the deputy mayor at the Elysee Palace.

For Eric Benzekri, however, the series had come to an end.

"The series begins by describing politics as a trickster thing, with Rickwaert pulling bills out of his jacket, and ends with a presidential debate where the same Rickwaert launches into a total defense of politics and democracy. , there is no greater stake in a political series than the loss of democracy. "

The fans can however remain hopeful: the screenwriter does not close the door to a sequel ... in a few years.
