The sports and fitness centers of the Alpes-Maritimes will attempt on Wednesday to obtain the suspension of the prefectural decree published Monday evening which provides, in its article 6, that "type X establishments (covered sports establishments) outside public swimming pools and private are closed ”.
This measure concerns sports halls, EPS, specialized sports halls and ice rinks.
It is synonymous with the immediate closure of fitness rooms in particular, which have proliferated in recent years in the Alpes-Maritimes.

To justify his decree, the prefect argues in particular that the department is classified as an “enhanced alert zone due to the unfavorable evolution of the incidence rate and positivity for Covid-19”.
The professional union France Active and several gym and fitness brands attacked the decision of the prefecture of the Alpes-Maritimes within the framework of an emergency procedure of summary freedom.
The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon before the Nice Administrative Court, which should render its decision the same day.
On September 16, the Nice Administrative Court ruled in favor of the town of Villeneuve-Loubet, which challenged the prefectural decree imposing the wearing of a mask throughout its territory.
Following this decision, the prefect had taken a new decree limiting this obligation to a few districts, in accordance with the wishes of the city.
