By Léo Vidal-Giraud 180 kilometers north-west of Moscow, Tver is one of the oldest cities in Russia.

Even older than Moscow, it could even have become the capital of the Russian Empire if Prince of Moscow Ivan the Terrible had not been there.

Today it is an average provincial town, the capital of one of the poorest regions of the country.

And like most regional capitals, it has its “Alexeï Navalny HQ”.

Publicity

These staffs are the main asset of the Russian opponent, an important part of his long-term plan to gain ground politically.

There are 39 of them all over Russia.

That of Tver is modest;

a small office nestled in the mezzanine of a downtown building.
