In Isère, the causes of the death of Victorine, found lifeless on Monday have not yet been established, despite the first examinations of the body, the prosecutor's office announced on Tuesday.

"The findings made from the scanner did not make it possible to establish the causes of the death of the young Victorine", Boris Duffau, deputy prosecutor in Grenoble, told the press.

"It is necessary to wait for the results of the autopsy which will be carried out on Wednesday morning," added the magistrate.

Neighborhood surveys

Forty-seven investigators from the Research Section of the Grenoble gendarmerie are mobilized on the case, "in particular to carry out a neighborhood investigation and hear any useful witness", according to the same source.

The body of Victorine Dartois, missing since Saturday evening in Villefontaine, was found Monday morning by the gendarmes.

It was submerged in a stream in a wooded area difficult to access, not far from a stadium where the young girl would have made her last phone call at 7 p.m. Saturday evening, as she returned to the family home.

The investigation first opened for "worrying disappearance" has since evolved into the counts of "kidnapping, forcible confinement and intentional homicide".
