He gave a strange girl two lives before they knew what each other looked like.

"Actually, I really never thought about the person who donated my bone marrow twice, what exactly is his appearance and personality, I only know that he is a good person!"

On September 15 this year, in Beijing, Wuhan girl Hu Lei finally met her benefactor Huang Wei.

At that moment, tears filled her eyes, and she bowed deeply gratefully!

Donor

I was enthusiastic about water rescue

I read the news and decided to donate

Huang Wei is from Shangqiu, Henan. When interviewing Huang Wei, he can feel that he is straightforward, quick-talking, and a warm-hearted man from the Central Plains.

Because he likes winter swimming, it is very unbearable to see some drowning accidents happening around him, so in 2008 Huang Wei initiated the establishment of the Shangqiu City Water Rescue Team, and he was the captain.

The idea of donating hematopoietic stem cells originated on the eve of the Spring Festival in 2013.

Huang Wei saw on TV news that a female doctor donated hematopoietic stem cells to children with leukemia.

One of the plots touched him deeply: the recipient was a 6-year-old child and wrote a card to the female doctor: Auntie, you saved me, you are a good person, and I must be a good person when I grow up.

"I think such a thin female doctor can do this, and I can definitely do it too." Huang Wei said.

In June 2013, Huang Wei, 43, joined the China Marrow Bank through sampling at the local Maternal and Child Health Hospital and became a volunteer for donating hematopoietic stem cells.

Huang Wei told reporters that in June 2014, he received a call from Shangqiu Red Cross and asked him if he would still donate, "I joined to donate, and I am waiting!" Huang Wei responded to the Red Cross in this way.

After a physical examination, Huang Wei met the requirements in all aspects and became the first person to donate marrow in the water rescue team.

He donated marrow twice, just to save strangers

Sick girl

I was lucky to find a suitable match in three or four days

The leukemia patient who successfully matched Huang Wei was Hu Lei.

A girl born in the 1980s, Hu Lei, was born in an ordinary working family in Wuhan. She graduated from a prestigious university and then applied to the headquarters of Alibaba in Hangzhou. His career went smoothly.

  However, accidents always come unexpectedly.

In early 2014, Hu Lei found an abnormality during the physical examination.

Her parents took her back to her hometown of Wuhan. In March, a biopsy confirmed that she had the most serious advanced stage of T lymphocyte lymphoma and was in a critical condition. The only hope was to have a hematopoietic stem cell transplant.

Hu Lei told reporters: "It is difficult to fight the disease, but fortunately I found a suitable match. At first, I didn't have much hope to find a bone marrow bank because the chances are very small! But God is really good for me. Probably. In only three or four days, I found the bone marrow, and it was completely compatible with me. I thought at the time that life is really amazing."

First donation

Read the letter from the recipient’s father

September 5, 2014 is the day of official donation.

Huang Wei went to Zhengzhou Cancer Hospital one week in advance to prepare for donation.

The first donation went smoothly. What happened during the donation process deeply affected Huang Wei-he received a letter of thanks from Hu Lei's father.

Huang Wei said that he was very impressed with the content of this letter, and there is a passage that has been engraved in his mind: countless dreams that he had contracted this disease in place of his daughter, but when he woke up, he realized that the cruel reality would not Changed by love of father and mother.

"All fathers are willing to take the place of their children to get sick when their children are sick. I also have daughters, so I particularly understand the feelings of being a father when the children are sick. On the surface, what the donation saves is a life, but what actually saves is a family. "Huang Wei said.

  Donated girl

"I have passed two lives in my life"

Hu Lei recalled the scene when he first accepted the marrow donation: "The attending doctor came to me and said, don’t worry, the donated bone marrow has come, and I will give it back to you at about 10 in the evening. I saw it at 10 in the evening. That bag of bone marrow. The moment the donor’s bone marrow flowed into the body, I felt the strength and I was reborn. I felt very lucky in my life. I will live for one in my life, and I have passed two in my life."

The reborn Hu Lei embarked on the road to recovery from a stumble, and she understood the meaning of life more deeply.

She went backpacking and volunteered to make her life more valuable, and she tried her best to bring value to society.

Donate again

More than 60 days of high-intensity exercise eliminates the "three highs"

On March 21, 2016, staff from Shangqiu Red Cross Society told Huang Wei that the girl who had been donated two years ago had now relapsed.

However, the second donation was not smooth.

Huang Wei's physical examination did not meet the standards, and his blood sugar, blood lipids, blood pressure, cholesterol, and uric acid were all high.

Huang Wei turned on the exercise mode.

First, run wildly: slowly from 5 kilometers, 6 kilometers, 7 kilometers... until the longest run was 15 kilometers a day.

Then swim, swim after get off work, stick to no less than two kilometers every day.

In terms of diet, Huang Wei dare not eat noodles and pork. He mainly eats vegetarian dishes, and only a little beef and fish for meat.

Huang Wei continued his high-intensity exercise for more than 60 days until all indicators were qualified. He completed the second donation on May 26, 2016.

Recipient

"I want to live well

Continue this love"

Although they have donated hematopoietic stem cells twice, due to medical ethics requirements, Huang Wei and Hu Lei will not be able to see each other for two years after transplantation as both donors and patients of unrelated hematopoietic stem cells.

Huang Wei is still doing his own water rescue work and volunteer service team work.

Although Hu Lei is still in the recovery period, she insists on doing charity as long as her physical condition permits. She also registered for body donation, hoping to make some contributions to the medical cause.

Hu Lei told reporters: "Although I have never seen a donor, he has always been my role model, and his love has always inspired me to live well."

This year marks the China Bone Marrow Bank’s donation of more than 10,000 cases, and also the sixth World Bone Marrow Donor Day. The parties concerned have decided to hold a national publicity event and invite Huang Wei to participate in the meeting.

Huang Wei guessed that he might meet that girl.

He prepared gifts for the girl, a volunteer vest and a cup, which symbolizes a lifetime of volunteer work.

Now, after suffering from a serious illness, Hu Lei resigned and returned to his parents in Wuhan to explore entrepreneurship while recuperating.

She said that the biggest gain from this illness is to realize that the essence of life is spiritual enrichment.

I only do two things now: one is what I am interested in, and the other is to help others.

Hu Lei wants to use his accumulated knowledge and experience in e-commerce to help farmers in remote areas solve the problem of selling green agricultural products and enrich his life.
