In anticipation of the era of autonomous driving, Kyocera, in collaboration with the University of Tokyo, has developed a technology to project the front image captured by a small camera on the display installed on the entire dashboard.

It is said that it will be possible to broaden the driver's field of view, prevent accidents, and enjoy the scenery outside.

"Kyocera" and Professor Masahiko Inami of the University of Tokyo Advanced Science and Technology Research Center jointly developed a concept car and opened it to the press in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto City on the 29th.

The concept car has a display on the entire dashboard.

Normally, you can display a speedometer, etc., but you can combine the information from eight small cameras mounted on the outside of the car into a single image and project it.

It is integrated with the view from the windshield, and it is a mechanism that can secure a wide field of view including the underside of the car, which is normally not visible from the driver's seat.

Although there are issues such as delays in projecting images, it is said that if it is put into practical use, it will eliminate blind spots for drivers and help prevent accidents.

Furthermore, it means that you can enjoy the scenery outside from the driver's seat in anticipation of the era of autonomous driving.

Masayoshi Inagaki, General Manager of Research and Development Division of Kyocera, said, "I hope this technology will be a catalyst for further development as the search for new car manufacturing continues."
