Mask required or not?

In Saint-Brieuc (Côtes-d'Armor), the inhabitants do not really know where to turn.

Since July 20, a decree taken by the mayor of the city required the wearing of a mask all day in the hypercentre for anyone over the age of 11.

But on September 23, the administrative court of Rennes suspended the order.

“It does not appear from the documents produced by the municipality of Saint-Brieuc (…) that the epidemiological situation (…) constituted, on the date of issue of the decree in dispute, a specific local situation likely to characterize a reason imperative making essential the edition of more restrictive measures than those taken simultaneously by the prefect of Côtes-d'Armor ”, estimated justice.

The administrative court had been seized in summary proceedings by a resident of Saint-Brieuc considering that the decree was "disproportionate", in particular because it enacted these measures "until further notice" and that it infringed "the freedom to come and go ”.

The obligatory mask on weekends on the coast

A new turnaround took place this Sunday due to the deterioration of the health situation.

The Prefect of Côtes-d'Armor has just taken a new decree making it compulsory to wear a mask in Saint-Brieuc "in areas and at times of the highest population density".

The measure also concerns the municipalities of Langueux, Trégueux, Plérin, Lamballe and Loudéac.

In Dinan and Lanvallay, on the other hand, wearing a mask becomes compulsory all day during the week and on weekends “in view of the frequentation and proximity of this sector to the Rennes metropolitan area, faced with a significant acceleration in the traffic of 'epidemic'.

It will be the same but only on weekends for certain tourist towns on the coast such as Binic, Erquy, Pléneuf-Val-André or Tréguier.
