  • Since Saturday and the prefectural decree on new restrictions to fight against the spread of Covid-19 in Haute-Garonne, sports halls have been closed.

  • The managers of more than 35 cinemas in the Toulouse conurbation have decided to join forces in the “Touche pas à ma salle” collective.

  • They hope that the authorities will revise their order and, at the same time, intend to file an interim injunction with the administrative court against the obligation to close.

This morning, Toulouse sports enthusiasts can give up their daily weight training session.

On Friday, the prefect of Haute-Garonne indicated that these establishments would be closed for a period of fifteen days from Saturday as part of the new measures deployed to fight against the coronavirus epidemic.

A blow for the room managers.

"What drives us crazy is that we are put in the dock when there was no cluster in our rooms," notes Hayk Shahinyan, manager of Magic Form, in the Ponts-Jumeaux district.

Referral to the administrative court

The latter has brought together more than 35 fitness clubs in the Toulouse metropolitan area behind the collective “Touche pas à ma salle”.

They thus intend to challenge the authorities to request the cancellation of the obligation to close.

They have also decided to counter-attack on the legal ground and are preparing to file a summary release on Monday before the administrative court of Toulouse.

“We work to keep people in good physical health and we are one of the few businesses that trace their customers.

We had only one case of Covid, our member reported it to us, we asked him what course he had taken and we were able to go back up and call everyone who was there at the same time.

It's been three months that we have adapted, we lowered our gauge, the closure is very disproportionate and unfair, ”laments the room manager.

Especially since the whole profession thought to recover its health in this return after the months of confinement, the majority of subscriptions being renewed or taken out during this period.

But all fear that these new measures will scare away customers.

"They scare people by saying that the rooms are places of contamination", criticizes Hayk Shahinyan whose collective represents 7,000 members, 240 independent coaches and more than 70 employees.

While waiting for the results on the legal ground, all hope that the authorities will review their copy.
