[Commentary] On September 27th, 2020 China Grand Canal Culture North-South Dialogue was held in Beijing.

With the theme of "Millennium Canal Poetry, Calligraphy, Wine and Painting", the dialogue brought together a number of well-known scholars and wine culture experts to conduct in-depth discussions on the protection, inheritance and innovation of the Grand Canal culture, while exploring the development of the South and North wine culture.

Xu Hejian, deputy director of the Publicity Department of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee and director of the Information Office of the Beijing Municipal Government, said at the event that to explore the contemporary value of the Grand Canal culture, it is more important to use "poetry, calligraphy, wine and painting" as the carrier to deeply understand the profound connotation of the Grand Canal culture. Provide new ideas for the development of related industries in coastal cities.

First, we must deeply understand the cultural connotation of the Grand Canal, work hard on heritage protection and cultural excavation, and interpret the canal culture from multiple angles and in all directions.

For a long time, the canal has nourished the cultural development on both sides of the south and the north. Where it flows, it has not only forged the charm of the water village in the south of the Yangtze River and the magnificence of the scenery of the North, but also instilled the artistic style of "poetry, calligraphy, wine and painting".

As the representative of the organizer, Wang Min, deputy editor-in-chief of China News Agency, said in his speech:

China News Service has the responsibility to spread the voice of good culture and tell the cultural story of China well.

At present, the Grand Canal, which has been flowing for thousands of years, is ushering in new development opportunities. It is the common wish of all people, including the media, to sing for the Grand Canal, write for the Grand Canal, paint for the Grand Canal, and tell the North-South cultural story.

[Explanation] He Yalan, member of the Standing Committee of the Shunyi District Committee and Minister of Propaganda, said in his speech that, as an important cultural carrier on the Grand Canal Cultural Belt, wine culture was born with the rise of the canal.

The Beijing wine culture represented mainly by Niulanshan Erguotou is unique in the Grand Canal Cultural Belt, and has become an important part of the Beijing flavor culture, rooted in the hearts of the people in Beijing.

[Explanation] This forum is one of the "Beijing-Hangzhou Dialogue" series of activities in the Grand Canal Cultural Belt of China in 2020. The forum focuses on the four cultural and artistic forms of poetry, books, wine and painting, and interprets the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal from the perspective of cultural protection, inheritance and utilization. Cultural changes have promoted cultural exchanges and cooperation along the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal.

I hope that through this forum, the north-south wine culture can spark sparks in the collision and be sublimated in the exchanges. It is also hoped that the Beijing flavor culture and Erguotou culture can further enrich the Grand Canal cultural system and inject new impetus into the construction of the Grand Canal Cultural Belt.
