  • The Rhône prefect has taken restrictive news to stop the spread of the coronavirus in the territory.

  • No more exceptions for the bars in the metropolis of Lyon, which will be forced to close their doors at 10 p.m.

  • The new rules applied are generally more flexible in the municipalities located outside the metropolis of Lyon.

Reluctant to the idea of closing bars before midnight, Pascal Mailhos was forced to review his copy.

The prefect of the Rhône had to comply with the restrictive announcements made by the Minister of Health Olivier Véran to stem the epidemic of coronavirus in the territory.

And especially in the metropolis of Lyon, now placed in a heightened alert zone for the circulation of the virus.

Here is what is changing.

The mandatory mask in seven new municipalities

There are still two weeks, only the inhabitants of Lyon and Villeurbanne had the obligation to wear the mask as soon as they put the nose outside, whatever the time of the day.

Last week, this measure was extended to ten other municipalities with more than 10,000 inhabitants.

With one difference: four hours of respite during the day since the obligation to wear the mask does not concern the 2h-6h time slot in the cities of Bron, Caluire, Décines, Ecully, Saint-Fons, Saint-Genis -Laval, Tassin-la-Demi-Lune, Vaulx-en-Velin, Vénissieux and Villefranche-sur-Saône.

Since Saturday morning, seven new Rhône communes have been integrated into the system.

Wearing a mask on public roads and in public places between 6 a.m. and 2 a.m. is compulsory in Saint-Priest, Rillieux-la-Pape, Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon, Givors, Francheville, Chassieu and Belleville-en- Beaujolais.

No more exceptions for bars

As of Monday, all the bars in the metropolis of Lyon will "close their doors no later than 10 pm", indicates the prefect of the Rhône.

However, this measure does not concern establishments in municipalities located outside the mainland which are still authorized to open normally.

Since Saturday, gatherings of more than ten people on public roads and places open to the public are prohibited in the metropolis.

But not in the rest of the department.

No respite for the gyms

The Rhône prefect did not wait until Monday to ask public and private sports halls to lower the curtain.

He demanded that these establishments be closed from Saturday morning throughout the metropolis of Lyon.

The rule is a little looser for swimming pools and gyms.

Now closed to the general public, they are nevertheless authorized to open for school groups, extracurriculars or high-level athletes, even professionals.

Here again, establishments located outside the metropolitan area are not affected by these new restrictive measures.

Sports halls, gymnasiums and swimming pools in the rest of the Rhône department are authorized to continue their activities.

No more student parties from Monday

As of Monday September 28 at midnight, welcoming the public in establishments open to the public for festive and family events (such as weddings, baptisms, raffles, associative events, birthdays, communions, etc.) is prohibited, including in party rooms, multipurpose rooms and reception rooms, whether public or private.

The measure applies to the entire Rhône department.

Student parties are also prohibited.
