Jiangkou Shenyin Museum adheres to the principle of original site protection in site selection, highlighting the three major advantages of geographical environment, overall protection and regional planning.

The site is close to the core area of the Shenyin Site, located at the "golden port" at the confluence of the Minjiang River and the Fuhe River. It is across the river from the Pengzu Mountain Scenic Area and the Jiangkou Ancient Town, a historical and cultural town in Sichuan Province. It is a characteristic cultural tourism economic belt in the Minjiang River Basin. An important node of Meishan City's cultural and tourism integration demonstration park.

Jiangkou Shenyin Museum introduces the concept of "geological stratification" of the archaeological site in the overall design, cleverly integrating the building with the surrounding environment and local cultural characteristics.

Based on the planning axis of the entire plot as the guiding design, as the main axis of the entrance; the entrance of the museum and the main space are transformed into a cave experience space with the texture of archaeological rock formations.

Drawing lessons from the "water", a very important element in the story of Jiangkou Shenyin, the architectural design has a dialogue with the surrounding landscape and water system in the form of floating on the water.

The overall layout is divided into two clear parts, the east side is the main exhibition space of the museum, and the west side is the internal space such as office research; and a roof garden is designed, which is integrated into the landscape.

The Jiangkou Shenyin Site is located in the Minjiang River, Jiangkou Street, Pengshan District. It is a relatively well-preserved ancient battlefield site.

Since the 1920s, cultural relics have been discovered in the Minjiang River where the site is located.

In 2005, a drinking water project was built in the Minjiang River. A section of wood sheath was discovered during the construction process, containing 7 silver ingots; in 2011, sand was taken from the Minjiang River, and cultural relics such as the Golden Book and Xiwang Gonggong were discovered; approved by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage in 2016 The Sichuan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, the Underwater Cultural Heritage Protection Center of the National Cultural Relics Bureau, and the Pengshan Cultural Relics Protection and Management Office of Meishan City, conducted archaeological excavations of the "Jiangkou Shenyin" site.

After three phases of archaeological excavations, gold and silver wares such as the "Shu Shizibao" and "Marshal Yongchang" gold seals were successively produced.

Among them, in April 2017, the first phase of archaeology at the end of the Ming Dynasty battlefield site at Jiangkou, Pengshan, Sichuan, was completed. The excavation area was about 20,000 square meters, and more than 30,000 cultural relics were unearthed, demonstrating the legend of Zhang Xianzhong's immersion in the river.

The results of "Jiangkou Shenyin Site" were selected as "Top Ten New Archaeological Discoveries in China in 2017".

On January 24, 2018, the second phase of archaeological excavation officially began at the Jiangkou battlefield site at the end of Ming Dynasty.

The archaeological excavation lasted nearly 3 months, with an area of 10,000 square meters and more than 12,000 cultural relics unearthed.

On January 10, 2020, the third phase of archaeological excavation officially started and ended on April 28. The excavation area was 5,000 square meters, the exploration area was 10,000 square meters, and more than 10,000 cultural relics were unearthed.

It is reported that the Jiangkou Shenyin Museum is committed to creating a "new landmark of Sichuan cultural tourism" in the future, striving to form a new three-legged cultural tourism form with the Jinsha Museum and Sanxingdui Museum.
