[Well-off China] Jiayuguan, Gansu sets up a "filial piety restaurant" for rural elderly, only 2.5 yuan per meal at their own expense

In Yemawan Village, a new town in Jiayuguan, Gansu, on the Silk Road, there is a daily check-in place for people over 75 years old—the “filial piety restaurant”, which was once the “cultural room” in the village. Being converted into a place for old people to eat and communicate, not only solves the problem of cooking and eating at home for the elderly living alone in rural areas, but also frees the children of migrant workers from worries.

This allows the elderly to take care of their diets and at the same time they can gain more spiritual companionship, so that the elderly can feel the taste of "delicious" old age and "happiness".

A 50-square-meter area with tables, chairs, kitchenware and other facilities is readily available. At present, there are 25 people dining in the restaurant, which can accommodate at least 35 people according to the standard.

Each child voluntarily pays 100 yuan, 75 yuan, and 50 yuan per month, and government subsidies are 100 yuan, 75 yuan, and 50 yuan.

According to the model of child support, financial support, and social donations, the standard uniform fee is charged, and each elderly person pays only 2.5 yuan per meal.
