China News Service, Beijing, September 27 (Chen Hang) The promotion of the function construction of the International Exchange Center is an important support for Beijing to promote a higher level of opening up.

Yu Haiyong, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Beijing Municipal Government, stated at the press conference on the 27th that in order to better showcase the capital’s "international style", Beijing has cultivated more than 60 branded international cultural festivals including the Beijing International Film Festival and Beijing International Design Week. Activities have created more than 30 well-known international sports events such as the China Tennis Open and Beijing Marathon.

Yu Haiyong pointed out that it is necessary to strengthen the four functions of service guarantee for major state events, the accumulation of international high-end elements, the support of Beijing’s opening development, and the demonstration and guidance of the city’s foreign exchanges. Six platforms including three-dimensional exchanges and cooperation, facilitation of public services, and branded city promotion.

As China is getting closer to the center of the world stage, more and more major state events are held in Beijing, and the scale is getting bigger and bigger, putting forward higher requirements for service guarantee work and city operation capabilities.

Yu Haiyong said that Beijing adheres to "normalization and does not disturb the people", and has successfully completed the two "Belt and Road" International Cooperation Summit Forum, the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, the 2019 Beijing Expo, the Asian Civilization Dialogue Conference and other major state events. The mission has shown the world the image of a confident, tolerant, and open capital of a major country.

Ma Wen, the second-level inspector of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, mentioned that Beijing, as an international exchange center, is a window for the world to see China.

International exchanges in the field of cultural tourism also carry the important mission of spreading the voice of China, demonstrating China's power, and expounding China's values.

According to Ma Wen, since 2002, Beijing’s overseas "Happy Chinese New Year" activities have left footprints in more than 30 countries and regions for 18 consecutive years.

The Chinese New Year Cultural Temple Fair held in Helsinki, the capital of Finland for 13 consecutive years, and Tallinn, the capital of Estonia for 10 consecutive years, has become a festival that local people look forward to in winter and is also an important livelihood project of the local government.
