Park opening where children with and without disabilities can play together Tokyo Ikebukuro September 26, 13:10

An "inclusive" park has opened in Toshima-ku, Tokyo, where children with and without disabilities can play together.

"Toshima Kids Park", which was built on the site of the Tokyo branch of the Japan Mint, about 1 km east of Ikebukuro Station, is a park for small children.

Eiji Mitooka, an industrial designer who worked on the luxury sleeper train of JR Kyushu, "Nana Star", designed the playground equipment that children with and without disabilities can play with.

There is a sandbox that you can enjoy while riding in a wheelchair, and a safe swing that can only be used for a certain width.

There is also a slide that is wide enough for parents and children to slide side by side, and a mini library with picture books in the covered kids' house where you can spend time without direct sunlight.

A 4-year-old boy with an intractable brain disease and his mother who visited said, "I want more parks like this because I can enjoy it with everyone if there is a sandbox where I can play in a wheelchair."

In order to prevent infection with the new coronavirus, reservations will be accepted on the website for the time being, and the usage time will be limited to 1 hour and the number of people will be limited to 80.
