While the epidemic situation is critical in Marseille due to an upsurge in the coronavirus, Samia Ghali, 2nd assistant to the new mayor of Marseille Michèle Rubirola, was on Europe 1 on Saturday.

The city of Marseille holds the record for metropolitan France for the highest incidence rate of the coronavirus, at 281 cases per 100,000 according to health authorities.

Samia Ghali, 2nd Deputy Mayor of Marseille Michèle Rubirola, was invited to Europe 1 on Saturday.

From Monday, in the city of Marseille, bars and restaurants will have to close from 10 p.m. and the measure does not pass, whether on the side of the restaurant owners or the elected, who believes that "the police have other things to do" than to verbalize restaurateurs.

In addition, Samia Ghali does not endorse health measures that she considers restrictive.

"We have been harassing restaurateurs since August and we must understand them, restaurateurs are in a very complicated economic situation," claims the senator.

The Regional Health Agency (ARS) of the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur region for its part indicated on Saturday that 40% of intensive care beds in hospitals in the region are occupied by patients with coronavirus.

However, some Marseille restaurateurs have already said that they would not close their doors on Monday.

And if the Marseille elected representative recalled that she was not calling anyone to defy the law, she considers that "the messages of the State are incomprehensible" and judges that there is "an imbalance between the measures applied in Marseille and in Paris".
