On the evening of September 24, the 2020 China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival and the 35th Popular Film Hundred Flowers Awards kicked off in Zhengzhou. Ten candidate films competed for the Hundred Flowers Award. The winners will be announced on the 26th.
[Explanation] That night, the current film festival kicked off at the Cultural Square of the New Museum of Zhengzhou. The short films "I Came from the Yellow River", "The Water of the Yellow River Comes from the Sky" and "A Seed" deeply integrated the culture of the Yellow River with Henan opera and movies. Through the narration of the filmmakers, one after another was presented.
The starry sky screening event was officially launched.

We kicked off the 2020 China Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival with a starry sky screening activity. Through 101 starry sky cinemas and 100 non-profit film screenings throughout the city (Zhengzhou), more citizens will participate in this film feast. It will also further promote the essence of light and shadow culture and become an innovative move for holding the Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival.

In 101 Star Cinemas, the previous Hundred Flower Award winning films were screened for public welfare, and film artists beloved by the audience were invited to interact with the mass audience on-site, creating a movie feast at their doorstep for the masses.
[Explanation] It is understood that this Hundred Flowers Awards will select the best film, excellent film, best screenwriter, best director, best actor, best actress, best supporting actor, best supporting actress, and best newcomer. A total of 9 awards.
After the preliminary selection and the organizing committee's confirmation, ten candidate films for the Hundred Flowers Award have been produced, and various nominations have also been produced before.
Among them, "I'm Not the God of Medicine", "The Devil Boy of Nezha", "The Wandering Earth", "My Motherland and Me" and "Youth in Youth" were nominated for Best Picture.
[Explanation] Founded in 1962, the Hundred Flowers Award for Popular Films is the oldest and most influential award in mainland China.
The award mainly reflects the audience's appraisal and preferences for the film, and is therefore called the "audience award" of Chinese films.
[Explanation] In line with the principle of frugal organization, this year's film festival is compressed from the original opening ceremony, nominee commendation, red carpet ceremony, and closing ceremony to 2 nominee commendation and closing ceremony for 3 days.
During the period, there will be academic activities such as thematic film exhibitions and China Film Forum.
The winners of this year's Hundred Flowers Awards will be presented at the awards ceremony on the evening of the 26th.
