  • The Prefect of Ille-et-Vilaine is strengthening health measures with the classification of the Rennes metropolitan area as a reinforced alert zone.

  • From Monday, bars will have to close at 10 p.m., compared to 11 p.m. currently.

  • The sports halls will also be closed for a period of fifteen days.

Six measures to try to curb the Covid-19 epidemic in the next two weeks in Rennes and in its metropolis.

After the passage of the Breton capital in enhanced alert zone Wednesday, the prefect of Ille-et-Vilaine is forced to tighten the screw.

Because the virus continues to circulate actively on the territory.

In the Rennes metropolitan area, the incidence rate has now reached 174.8 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and the test positivity rate has reached 9.95%.

These figures are exploding even among young people with an incidence rate of 420 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and a positivity rate of more than 13%.

Faced with this outbreak of the epidemic, "difficult and extremely restrictive measures" have already been taken in Rennes where bars must in particular close at 11pm since September 16.

They will be further strengthened in the coming hours.

From Monday, cafes will have to lower the curtain at 10 p.m. throughout the Rennes metropolitan area.

This measure will also apply to establishments that have a bar activity such as restaurants or hotels.

"The health situation requires measures and exemplary individual and collective behavior," Michèle Kirry stressed this Friday afternoon.

"Because we must do everything to reverse the curves and it is within our reach," she assured.

Ban on renting a ballroom for 15 days

From Saturday and for a period of two weeks, two other measures will also come into force in the Rennes metropolitan area.

Static gatherings of more than ten people on public roads, such as in parks or gardens, will be banned for the next two weeks.

Cardio and weight training enthusiasts will also have to draw a line in the gym, just like amateur athletes who will be deprived of gyms.

On this last point, however, exceptions have been made.

Minors will thus be able to practice indoor sport during school and extra-curricular time, just like high-level athletes.

The swimming pools will also remain open.

Three other measures also concern the whole of Ille-et-Vilaine.

Throughout the department, which had turned red in mid-September, the gauge of large gatherings, such as stadiums or trade fairs, will be reduced to 1,000 people.

Parties and student parties will also be banned.

And from Monday, it will also be prohibited to rent party rooms or multipurpose rooms for festive gatherings.

In other words, no wedding, birthday or family celebration will be allowed in a room over the next two weeks in Ille-et-Vilaine.

New screening centers

To cope with the influx of people coming to be tested, the Regional Health Agency announces the opening from Monday of two ephemeral screening centers, one near the Couvent des Jacobins in Rennes and the other in Noyel-Châtillon-sur-Seiche.

Two other ephemeral sites should also see the light of day from October 5 in the Villejean and Bréquigny districts.
