The squalls recorded this Friday morning in the Alpes-Maritimes, placed in yellow vigilance from noon by Meteo France, complicate the task of firefighters in the town of Mandelieu-La Napoule.

Since around 6 a.m., they have been fighting a forest fire near the goat egg trail, in the Estérel massif.

"The fire is activated by a strong westerly wind and is located in an inaccessible area", which makes the operation even more delicate, specified the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (Sdis) of the Alpes-Maritimes at the start morning.

Currently, 60 firefighters including twenty from the Var department are in contact with the fire.

Two water bomber helicopters are also mobilized, says Sdis.

The fire had traveled 1 hectare at the time of 9:30 am.
