Soviet and Russian director, screenwriter and actor Sergei Bondarchuk was born on September 25, 1920. He has performed over 40 roles in film and television projects, but he is best known for his directing work. Bondarchuk shot such cult films as "The Fate of a Man", "They Fought for the Motherland", "Boris Godunov", "Quiet Don", "War and Peace". The latter was considered the most expensive film in history for some time. For her, the director received the Oscar and Golden Globe awards.
