  • In Nice, part of the license courses take place remotely.

  • Integration evenings have been canceled due to the Covid-19 epidemic.

  • The university will have to invest to adapt to the health crisis.

Compulsory mask, hydroalcoholic gel everywhere, direction of movement in the corridors and even distance courses every other week for some of the undergraduate students in order to reduce overcrowding in the amphitheatres: on the campuses of the University of Côte d'Azur, measures against the spread of the coronavirus are everywhere.

At the law school in Nice, budding lawyers like everyone else to comply with these new rules.

From the lecture halls to the “BU”, in the corridors and on the whole of the Trotabas campus, everyone evolves in a mask.

“The other day, a student pulled his mask down over his chin,” says Issa.

The teacher saw it straight away even if there were more than a hundred in the room and asked him to put it back correctly ”.

"This summer, it was not at all respected"

This Master 1 student in business law is categorical: “In the context of college, people are serious.

It's different outside, we let go, me first!

"Estelle, in M1 in notarial law, experienced it:" This summer, it was not respected at all.

I worked in a bar and there were often 50 people in a 30 m2 room, most of the time without a mask ”.

Today, while epidemic indicators have been in the red for several weeks in the Alpes-Maritimes, have students adapted their lifestyle to the presence of Covid-19?

Orlane, in M1 taxation, did it, and without too much difficulty: "I put on the mask, I no longer kiss and for going out it doesn't change anything, I didn't go out at night anyway!"

Gabin, he would like to be able to party but "everything has been canceled: the integration evening, the BDE evenings.

And at the same time, there are 300 of us in the auditorium, ”laments this first year student.

"Do not stigmatize the students"

“It is true that there are no more integrations in a club or in a campsite like in previous years, but there are still events outside, respecting barrier gestures and limited to ten people, such as sponsorship day ”, underlines Amaury Baudoux, president of the student association Face06.

For him, "we must not stigmatize the students", who like the others respect health measures.

The real difficulty, for this student representative, is the “remote” courses.

Every other week, first-year medical, science or second- and third-year law students must take the courses by videoconference.

“We understand that it is not possible to have lecture halls with 1,000 students, we adapt but it's complicated.

Pedagogically this is not ideal.

"

For the president of the Université Côte d'Azur, Jeanick Brisswalter, “the objective is to maintain an educational link between the student and the teacher, thanks to this system of alternation, while guaranteeing optimal sanitary conditions.

With this in mind, the university will invest several hundred thousand euros to equip itself with a video camera to film the lessons and strengthen connection capacities.
