[Commentary] Cui Zhonghe is a retired old man from Nanjing. By chance, he became a volunteer for the BenQ Hospital affiliated to Nanjing Medical University.

Because of his love for music and the pursuit of public welfare, he and his wife insisted on playing piano for the hospital for ten years.

On September 23, a reporter from the China News Agency recorded the old man's "music story" on camera.

[Explanation] The old man who is concentrating on playing the piano is named Cui Zhonghe. Cui Zhonghe said that after retirement, he wants to use his residual heat. Playing the piano can not only relieve the mood of patients and their families, but also enrich their lives.

I came in June 2010. It’s been a little over 10 years. I have (coming) twice a week and I have been there until now.

I play more of Chopin's tunes, as well as tunes that young people like a little bit. Some tunes like Canon and Hisaishi Joe will have them. They are wider and more acceptable to everyone.

[Commentary] When it comes to music, Mr. Cui is full of emotion.

I think (music) is a part of life, and I will feel that exposure to music is a pleasure.

[Explanation] Cui Zhonghe, 71 years old this year, mostly works with music after retirement. In his free time, he teaches his children to play the piano to test grades. He thinks his original intention of participating in voluntary charity activities is very meaningful.

I think this job is very meaningful. In addition, it is also very pleasant to get along with employees and colleagues.

I also have income from teaching students, but this is a charity activity.

The piano sound will help people emotionally play a better role, I think this is quite good.

[Explanation] In the soothing music atmosphere, many patients who came to see the doctor gave this answer.

We heard this very soft music, which made us feel very comfortable and happy, and the grandfather's piano technique was also very good, and we played very beautifully. We liked it very much.

[Concurrent] Xie Minghong, Deputy Director of Human Resources Department, BenQ Hospital, Nanjing Medical University

(Patient) can hear the piano playing in our lobby. He (patient) will be in a better mood. In addition, there are a large number of volunteer teams here to help patients guide and provide medical services. Patients will love it ( this way).

  [Concurrent] Volunteer Cui Zhonghe

I like to play the piano here, and use our piano sound to give people a kind of spiritual comfort and enjoyment.
