This year's annual list of most influential people includes The Weeknd and Michael B. Jordan.

The Weeknd was suggested by Elton John, who compares him to Prince.

"He is not interested in commercialism purely for the commercial aspect, but is now one of the most streamed artists on Spotify. Just like Prince, he does what he wants. That is an exemplary way to work as an artist."

Michael B. Jordan, who in addition to films like

Creed

and

Black Panther is

also known for his fight against racism in Hollywood, was nominated by Denzel Washington.

"He's already a force for the camera," writes the Oscar-winning actor.

"But he's becoming an even greater force behind the camera. He's the next generation."

Time

's new list

also includes famous names like singer Selena Gomez, cellist Yo-Yo Ma and

Parasite

director Bong Joon-ho.

They were nominated by America Ferrera, Stevie Wonder and Tilda Swinton respectively.

The editors of the leading

Time

compile their list annually based on nominations.

Persons who were previously selected themselves may submit new names.

International authors of the magazine also have a say.

Taylor Swift and Rami Malek, among others, were in the top 100 in 2019.
