A series of robbery cases pretending to be gas inspections The Metropolitan Police Department calls attention on September 24, 7:16

There have been a series of robbery cases in Tokyo pretending to be gas inspections.

On the 23rd, in Adachi-ku, Tokyo, a duo of men broke into an elderly man's room, tied his limbs, and took away 300,000 yen in cash.

Two other cases of the same technique have occurred and are being investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department.

Around 3:30 pm on the 23rd, two men visited the room of a man in his 70s at an apartment house in Hanahata, Adachi-ku, Tokyo, and said over the intercom, "I came to read the gas meter."

When the man opened the door, they suddenly covered the man's mouth with adhesive tape, tied his limbs, and robbed his wallet of about 300,000 yen in cash and ran away.

The man untied the tape on his own, and after about an hour and a half, he called 110 from a nearby pay phone.

According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, one man was in his twenties and the other was in his thirties, both wearing gray work clothes and black masks.

In Tokyo, a robbery case pretending to be a gas inspection occurred in Higashimurayama City on the 20th of this month and in Setagaya Ward on the 22nd.

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the relationship between the three incidents and is calling attention to the possibility that damage from the same technique will continue in the future.
