Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, September 24, 5:25 to subsidize local governments promoting postpartum depression support projects for fathers

Since fathers who participate in childcare are also at risk of "postpartum depression", the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has paid a part of the cost to local governments that promote a support project called "peer support" in which fathers who are similarly suffering support each other. We have established a policy to assist.

It is known that "postpartum depression" is caused by major changes in the physical condition and life rhythm of the mother, but it has been pointed out that fathers who participate in childcare are also at risk.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, as the environment surrounding the family changes drastically, such as refraining from going out due to the effects of the new coronavirus, there are calls for support for fathers who are suffering from child-rearing.

For this reason, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has decided to subsidize part of the cost to local governments that promote support projects called "peer support" in which fathers who are similarly troubled support each other.

Specifically, half of the cost will be charged if a counseling session is held by a father who has experience raising children, an exchange meeting between fathers is held, or continuous support is provided according to the age of the child or father. I'm going to help.

In addition, half of the cost will be subsidized if counselors provide counseling support to support fathers who are troubled or depressed due to work and child-rearing.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare plans to include the expenses required for these support projects in the budget request for the next fiscal year.
