“The overall situation continues to deteriorate”.

Faced with the rebound of the coronavirus epidemic in certain regions, the government announced on Wednesday new restrictive measures.

The departments where the virus is actively circulating are now classified into three zones: alert zone, reinforced alert zone and maximum alert zone, announced Olivier Véran on Wednesday during his weekly press conference.

  • Alert zone

These are areas where the incidence rate exceeds the threshold of 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

  • Reinforced alert zone

The criteria are: an incidence rate which exceeds the threshold of 150 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and an incidence rate in the elderly which exceeds the threshold of 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Eleven other metropolises were placed in “enhanced alert zone”: Paris, Lille, Toulouse, Saint-Etienne, Rennes, Rouen, Grenoble, Montpellier, in addition to Bordeaux, Lyon and Nice, which were already there.

In these areas, from Monday, gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited in public spaces, "such as beaches, parks", local and student parties will be prohibited, party halls, multipurpose rooms, meeting rooms. sport and gymnasium will also be closed.

Another novelty, in these areas, visits to nursing homes will only be possible by appointment.

  • Maximum alert zone

The criteria are: an incidence rate which exceeds the threshold of 250 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and an incidence rate in the elderly which exceeds the threshold of 100 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

The metropolis of Aix-Marseille and Guadeloupe have been placed in "maximum alert zone".

In these areas, bars and restaurants will be closed from Saturday, for at least two weeks, announced Olivier Véran.

The same goes for establishments open to the public where a "strict protocol" has not been put in place.
