After the national test, 66% of Hong Kong citizens called for the implementation of the health code as soon as possible

[Global Times Comprehensive Report] After Hong Kong ended nationwide testing, public opinion is calling for the launch of a health code as soon as possible.

According to the latest survey, up to 66% of respondents agree with this.

According to a survey published by the Hong Kong Research Association on the 21st, based on interviews with 1,129 citizens aged 18 and above, the results showed that 66% of the respondents expressed “strongly agree” and “somewhat agree” with the introduction of health codes and "Travel Bubbles". ; If the SAR government implements it as soon as the end of September, 53% of the respondents think that the time is reasonable.

The survey also showed that 60% of the respondents believed that the health code and "travel bubble" were helpful to Hong Kong's economy.

The so-called "travel bubble" and "business bubble" were originally proposed by European countries. It refers to countries and regions with similar epidemic status that open their borders to each other to effectively alleviate economic losses, but there is also the risk of epidemic prevention loopholes.

In the past few days, Hong Kong society has also been looking forward to the launch of health codes.

The Chinese General Chamber of Commerce of Hong Kong submitted a letter of opinion to the SAR government on the new Policy Address. Chairman Cai Guanshen said on the 21st that he hopes that the SAR government will monitor the business changes brought about by the epidemic to all industries and industries, and propose to relax the quota and scope of exemption from compulsory quarantine. Implement health codes, "travel bubbles" and "business bubbles", and expand virus detection and treatment capabilities.

Mak Meijuan, a member of the Legislative Council of the Federation of Trade Unions, believes that we can follow the example of Singapore and accelerate the promotion of health codes to restart cross-border transportation. Cross-border families and school children can also benefit from the health codes and revitalize the tourism industry.

Hong Kong Chief Secretary for Administration Zhang Jianzong said on the 19th that the implementation of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao health code depends on the stability of the Hong Kong epidemic and the confidence of Guangdong and Macau before it can be implemented. However, the current Hong Kong epidemic is still repeated.

Some commentators said on the 22nd that to implement health codes as soon as possible, we cannot rely solely on the self-discipline and willingness of the public. The government must show greater determination and courage, especially in the face of various political interference.
