The prefect of Gard, Didier Lauga, announced this Tuesday morning a strengthening of measures to fight against Covid-19 in the department.

Among these measures, the ban, from Wednesday, of shared consumption in bars and restaurants in the Gard: goodbye tapas boards and cocktails to sip together, which would promote the spread of the virus.

Hookahs are also prohibited.

Dancing and festive evenings prohibited

In addition, bars, restaurants and food shops will have to close at midnight, and dance evenings are prohibited.

The prefect has also banned all festive student events, in establishments or on the public highway.

As of September 18, figures communicated by Public Health France indicated that the incidence rate of the coronavirus was 89.5 per 100,000 inhabitants in the Gard.
