France has recorded 10,008 new cases of Covid-19 in twenty-four hours, while the test positivity rate continues to climb, according to data released Tuesday by Public Health France.

After a brake on Monday, usual especially because of the closure of laboratories on Sunday, the number of positive cases is again above 10,000 for a single day, but without reaching the record of Saturday (13,498 positive cases).

The positivity rate continues to climb

The share of patients among those tested (positivity rate) continues to climb, to 6.1% for the day of Tuesday, against 5.9% the day before.

In hospitals, 783 patients with the virus were newly admitted during the day, including 130 in intensive care.

In addition, 4,244 coronavirus patients have been hospitalized over the last seven days - or 141 more compared to the figures announced the day before -, including 651 in intensive care, said the public health service.

The situation in hospitals has notably led to the activation of the “white plan” in establishments in the Saint-Etienne region, to better manage the influx of patients.

Since the start of the epidemic, at least 31,416 Covid-related deaths have been recorded in France, 68 more than the day before, including 20,845 in hospitals.
