With confinement, teleworking has become widespread.

The employers agreed on Tuesday to open a “negotiation” on telework, as demanded by the unions, from November 3, with a view to an “agreement” which would however be “neither normative” “nor prescriptive”, a Hubert Mongon, Medef negotiator, announced during a conference call.

This negotiation "would aim to recall the main principles of applicable law and identify new questions to be asked and shed light on them", specified the head of Medef.

"Enabling a successful implementation of teleworking"

The objective is "to allow a successful implementation of teleworking in companies", added Hubert Mongon.

The employers want "this agreement to be neither normative nor prescriptive because of the diversity of situations: 5 million employees, 5 million different situations," he warned.

A second meeting has been scheduled for November 23, and more could follow, if needed.

On the union side, the CFDT, Force Ouvrière and CFE-CGC have already said that they would be present there.

The CFTC boycotted Tuesday's meeting, demanding a negotiation promise from the Medef on September 11.

The CGT was present but did not speak out, according to Hubert Mongon.

The unions and the employers had met on Tuesday for the last time to validate a “shared diagnosis” on teleworking, a text which sets out the challenges of this type of work but does not make any recommendations, contrary to what the unions demanded.

The CGT and the CFTC did not sign this document, said Hubert Mongon.
