A defense council on the coronavirus is scheduled for Wednesday or Thursday, the Elysee said Tuesday, while Emmanuel Macron said that several decisions would be taken "in the next few hours", especially for Paris.

"Several decisions will be taken in the coming hours which will be communicated by the Minister (of Health Olivier Véran), either Wednesday evening or Thursday morning," said the Head of State visiting a nursing home in Loir-et- Expensive.

Olivier Véran, in fact, provides his weekly update on the progression of the coronavirus epidemic on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Ban on the sale of alcohol in Paris after 8 p.m.

According to corroborating sources, a meeting was held on Monday between the Ile-de-France regional health agency, the town hall and the Paris police headquarters and, according to concordant sources, the ban on sale of alcohol from 8 p.m., the ban on all gatherings beyond ten people, as well as the lowering of the maximum authorized level for large gatherings of 5,000 to 1,000 people.

The ban on the rental of halls for parties, including weddings, is also being considered.

On the other hand, no measure would be considered for nursing homes in the Paris region, transport, or timetable restrictions for bars and restaurants, categorically rejected by the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo.

The mayor of Paris warns against overly restrictive measures that would handicap economic and social life.
