From a hospital bed, Saudi teacher Muhammad Al-Fifi gives Arabic lessons to his students online, as his body fights a battle to survive against cancer.

The 37-year-old has been in hospital since last year, and conditions of illness and treatment have deprived him of the work he loves, which is teaching.

But he found a window of opportunity to resume work, when the Corona pandemic hit the Kingdom, causing schools to close, and transferring classrooms to internet space.

Since the beginning of the school year, last month, and the continuation of remote study classes, Al-Fifi continues to provide lessons to his students, and says that his health and morale has improved, and that his immunity has become stronger than it was in the past.

He explained: “I am as a cancer patient in the hospital .. By working through distance education, I found that my health improved, and my vital signs became better .. The immunity increased until the doctors said, God willing, a month ago since the beginning of the study, and your affairs are good and my health. Even my weight gained five kilos.

The students express their love and appreciation, and send their sincere wishes to their teacher, calling for him to heal, recover, and triumph over illness.

Al-Fifi says that some students know the truth about his illness, and others do not.

The Minister of Education, Hamad bin Muhammad Al Al-Sheikh, described Al-Fifi as "an honorable model."
